If the gospel
of Jesus Christ is the hope of the world - and it is. If the
church of Jesus Christ is the divinely appointed agency for
the declaration of the gospel – and it is. If the bible
school is the recruiting station and camp of the church –
and it is. Then the bible school program becomes the hope of
the world, also.
The mission
of the Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ Bible School is to
develop every member to Christ-like maturity by providing instruction
and training in the word of God.
The motto
is “Presenting every man perfect in Christ. Colossians
1:28
The perfect
or mature believer is one who:
1. Has knowledge
of God’s word. II Timothy 3:16-17
2. Understands God’s ways ( perspective). Psalm 103:7
3. Has conviction. Acts 4:19-20
4. Is skillful. Hebrews 5:14
5. Has Christ-like character. Ephesians 4:13
The
objectives of the bible school:
1. To lead
the pupil into a personal relationship with God.
2. To give the pupil an understanding and appreciation of the
life and teaching of Jesus, to lead him to accept Christ as
Savior, friend, companion, and Lord, and to lead him into loyalty
to Christ and his cause.
3. To develop the ability and desire to participate in the life
and work of the church.
4. To develop in knowledge and love for the bible.
5. To develop in growing persons, the ability and disposition
to participate in and contribute constructively to the building
of a world, embodying the ideal of the fatherhood of God and
brotherhood of man.
6. To lead growing persons into a Christian interpretation of
life and the universe. To develop in them the ability to see
God’s purpose and plan in his creation.
7. To foster in growing persons a responsibility for their own
conduct.
The church
at Woodlawn Forrest uses the Sound Theology Curriculum. This
curriculum is designed to introduce sound (good, healthy) theology
on how we see, speak of, and serve God. It will allow people
of God to grow in the knowledge of the Godhead (trinity) and
the fundamental doctrines of the Church of Christ. This curriculum
will provide a holistic approach to bible study and will help
the students to increase their knowledge of God and the bible.
What
is theology?
Theology
is the study of God as He reveals Himself. Your personal theology
can be summed up this way: How you SEE,
SPEAK OF and SERVE God.
Bad theology
will cause you to see God wrong, speak of Him wrong, and serve
Him wrong and ultimately be rejected by Him!
Matthew 7:21
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name
have case out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart
from me, ye that work iniquity.”
A misunderstanding
of God leads to a misunderstanding of our purpose and a misuse
of our gifts, talents and abilities.
Paul fixes
faulty theology by introducing sound theology to those on Mars
Hill. Acts 17:22-31.
1. Verse
22 – (see) Their view of God was polytheistic.
2. Verse 23 – (speak) They called the true God “the
unknown God”
3. Verse 23 – (serve) They served or worshipped Him “ignorantly”
4. Verse 31 – God will judge and reject bad theology.
We must fix
faulty theology in the world and in the church by introducing
good sound theology that will clarify in our minds and in the
minds of the world God’s attributes (Omniscient, Omnipotent
and sovereign), nature is a Spirit) and His requirements (God
requires faith and obedience in order to be recipients of His
saving grace).
The Church
of Christ is the guardian of true theology!
1.
The church must know the truth.
John 8:32
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make
you free.”
2.
The church must uphold the truth.
I Timothy 3:15
“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest
to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of
the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth”
3.
The church must teach the truth.
Ephesians 4:14
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him
in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
4.
The church must defend the truth.
Phillippians 1:17
“But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the
defense of the gospel.”
This curriculum
introduces to every member the foundational truths that are
needed to correct any faulty theological views that they my
have acquired in their lives just as Paul did in Acts chapter
17. Paul discovered some men there whose theology (view of God)
was faulty. Under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul
began to correct their faulty theology by declaring sound theology,
to them. The Sound Theology Curriculum is designed as a curriculum
that introduces to all members of the local congregation correct
biblical theology that can be built upon by adding to our faith.
(2 Peter 2:5)

God’s
Prime Achievers is a program which allows church leaders,
parents, and the entire congregation to give love deposits to
students when they demonstrate excellence in four areas of their
lives: academics, athletics, attitude, and the arts.
God’s
Prime Achievers Program is based on the following criteria:
Academics:
The criteria for academic love deposits are designed to honor
students who make the A and/or A/B honor roll, and/or perfect
attendance. This category includes college students who have
made the dean’s list. It also includes younger students
who do not receive letter grades, but who receive marks as satisfactory,
excellent, and all pluses, with no minuses.
Athletics:
The criteria for athletic love deposits are designed to honor
students who achieve first or second place in track, football,
basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball, etc., individually, or
as a team during regular season or in tournaments. Athletic
love deposits are also given to distinguished honors such as
Most Valuable Player, Blue Chip, All State, All District, and
All American.
Attitude:
The criteria for attitude love deposits are designed to honor
students who have demonstrated an exceptional attitude in the
face of obstacles and adversities. The attitude love deposits
are given to students who make exceptional improvements in their
attitude when it comes to disciplinary problems at home or at
school.
Artistic:
The criteria for artistic love deposits gives honor to students
who excel in literary arts such as poetry, essay writing, short
stories, and editorials; in performing arts such as theater,
ballet, dance, and speech; in fine arts such as solos, chorus,
band, orchestra, and ensembles; and in graphic arts such as
photography, painting drawings, building engineering, architectural
designing, wood craft, sculptures, and other areas of artistic
design.
